My Ibiza Diaries : Beauty essentials

Writer: Zoe RustonZoe Ruston

Hey Lovelies!

I've been back just over a week and still spending my time reminiscing about my favourite parts. I thought I'd make a post about my top 5 favourite cosmetics and toiletries, because it's ok to be in holiday mode while I still have my very slight tan. I'm pale AF and just collect freckles to be honest, but I have got a little bit of Ibiza colouring.

Anyway, let's get to it! This year I've gone for budget items, because times are hard. Everyone is feeling the pinch with energy and fuel prices the highest we have ever seen, so if you're on a budget too, I got you, I've linked all of the products for you.

1 . ASDA Little Angels Liquid Talc - £1.25

Helps absorb moisture to keep skin comfortable & dry. Paediatrician approved. Helps prevent chafing. Skin health alliance. Dermatologically accredited and tested. This product has not been tested on animals. Suitable for vegetarians. Suitable for vegans.

Thick thighs might save lives, but this little gem saves thighs. I couldn't live without this, it's perfect to smooth over your inner thighs to prevent chub-rub or even a little bit behind your knees and in the creases of your arms when they're feeling a little sticky. My big boobed babes would benefit from a little bit under your bust too!

My husband said it was also great to keep his family jewels non-sticky ;) winner.

2 . The Ordinary Serum Foundation - £6.40

Lightweight Pigment Suspension System with Moderate Coverage 30ml. Alcohol-free, oil-free, cruelty free and vegan.

I get self conscious about redness in my face (stupid, I know) and so sometimes on holiday, I like to put a little light foundation or tinted moisturiser under my eyes and on my cheeks to even out my complexion, and this foundation is perfect. It has SPF 15 so you get the bonus of added protection. If I use this during the day, I always put it on top of my facial sun cream with SPF 50 - we're not ageing prematurely over here - and it blends beautifully. The texture is just like serum, and applies best with just your fingers, to melt into the skin without altering the texture of your skin. It feels powder soft afterwards and doesn't look patchy if you perspire or go swimming.

For the evening, when I wanted to wear a little more make-up and wanted more coverage, I would simply use a primer first, after I've moisturised of course, and then add some concealer where I felt I needed it. The serum foundation sat nicely on top of my base and I set it with some powder and setting spray for a lasting finish. I also found it was buildable, if i wanted more coverage, I simply used more product. I used shade 1.2N Light.

3 . The Body Shop Body Yogurt £11

In a matter of seconds our Body Yogurts will have your skin looking healthy and hydrated. They’re all vegan, light, non-greasy, fast-absorbing and have a silky gel-cream texture. Slather them onto damp skin and enjoy 48hr moisture. Made with at least 92% natural-origin ingredients, they come in loads of nature-inspired flavours, from almond milk and mango to strawberry.

I used to work at The Body Shop, so although I don't think £11 is exactly budget price, for me, I was using something I already had in the cupboard instead of buying another aftersun. Although, I know that there's usually a discount on TBS website and there's lots of TBS At Home reps that offer different promotions too. Lucky for me, I had a stash of these, and opted to take my cucumber one, it was still unopened and contained cooling menthol, perfect for when your skin is hot and tight.

I like the body yogurt over their classic butter as it's not as thick, it absorbs into your skin in 15 seconds, can be used on wet skin to lock in moisture AND you can put it in the fridge. My skin felt so soft and cool after using this, straight out the fridge onto clean, wet skin and let it dry while eating some paprika Lays on our balcony.

They're all 200ml - so not hand luggage friendly, but more than enough for me and my hubby for 1 week. We used it very generously and even had some left over. There's a range of scents, and if you have sensitive skin, you'll find the almond milk one perfect for you.

4 . The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter £5

This buttery pot of goodness makes taking your makeup off at the end of the day a bit of fun. Your favourite eyeshadow? Gone in seconds. Caked-on concealer? Yep, that too. Any attempts at winged eyeliner vanish just like that. Massage our Camomile Cleansing Butter into your skin to melt the day away.

I bought the 20ml travel size pot for £5, but the 90ml pot is better value at £11. I plan on refilling my 20ml pot from my larger one whenever I travel, so I didn't mind buying the mini size, as it's a re-useable tin.

When I say this is a miracle product, I mean it. I'm guilty of sleeping in my make-up more than once, and of using baby wipes/ make-up wipes every day - yikes! But since discovering this back in 2018 I pamper my skin daily and it's never looked better. (Last month, my bestie was painting a flag on my face for Eurovision, and said my skin was really nice, and that was the best compliment I've received all year!)

This camomile butter is really gentle and easy to use, I scoop a little onto my finger tips and massage onto my entire face, my make-up melts and it can look crazy to see your panda eyes and smudged lippy smeared all over but using a damp muslin cloth, flannel or microfibre towel, all of it wipes away in seconds. Leaving your skin feel clean and soft.

I know I sound like an ad for TBS right now, and perhaps some of my promo skills still linger, but i genuinely do LOVE this product and use it every day. And when travelling, you want to take less, so just pack this butter and you can leave your wipes, micellar water and face wash at home. This will get you through the week.

Argan Oil Heat Defence Leave in Spray. Keep your hair healthy and hydrated with this fabulous nourishing spray. With Moroccan argan oil extract, this unique styling formula defends against damage to the hair caused by hair styling. Hydrating, nourishing and cleansing.

This bargain replaced my more expensive hair products, such as Bleach London hair elixir, The Body Shop grape serum and Bed Head detangling spray. I read that argan oil is good to use in the sun as it locks in moisture and protects your hair. And healthy hair is less likely to get knotty and tangled when wet. When you get out of the pool, spray liberally from root to tip and comb through with your fingers to air dry, or if you're fancy, a wide toothed comb.

I have coloured hair and it's unavoidable that it will fade in the sun, but using a heat protection will at least ensure that it will stay healthy and glossy.

So there you have it, my top 5, wouldn't leave without, budget beauty essentials! Have you tried any? Let me know what you think.

If you love a list, like me, and find it can be stressful packing, I have a solution for you. Over on my Etsy store, you'll find my holiday packing list, a digital download, which you can print at home or edit on your tablet to make packing a piece of cake.

Speaking of which, the snack cupboard and Netflix are calling me, speak soon
