On April 1st I had tickets to see Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel: The Exhibition at Secret Space in Birmingham, unfortunately, after a train ride and a 40 minute walk, we were turned away at the venue door as the exhibit had been postponed. April fool's!
Safe to say, I was disappointed but decided not to have a wasted journey. Luckily, Birmingham, 'the second city' is full of things to do.
I'm a HUGE Peaky Blinders fan and my Husband is very tolerant of my obsessions, so we went in search of the new Peaky Blinder's mural that i had heard about, and I wasn't disappointed. The mural is on Hill Street, and was created by Castle Fine Art, showcasing Jon Jones, a brummie artist.
The 50m wide mural isn't just a bit of eye candy either, for each image of the wall posted on social media, tagging Birmingham Children's Hospital, Castle Fine Art will donate £1 to the charity.
My favourite image was of Tommy and Arthur Shelby clasping hands, as they're my favourite characters, but honestly, all of the pieces were amazing and inspiring.

Next, cold and hungry, we went in search of cocktails, and found All Bar One. We have visited a few times for cocktails, and I vaguely remember it being one of the stops on my very boozey hen do, but hadn't ever visited for food. The menu isn't huge but there's enough to suit all tastes. My hubs had the katsu chicken, and i had the nourish bowl and we shared the trio of fries - omg
I enjoyed mine so much, I decided to learn how to make it at home. Keep an eye out for my recipe!
Nourish Bowl (VE) - rich in Vitamin C, Folate & Potassium Quinoa & buckwheat grains, baby spinach, rocket, broad beans, heirloom tomatoes, broccoli & pomegranate with an orange dressing

For us, a meal out isn't complete without a cocktail or two, so i ordered the salted caramel old fashioned, and the sailor's swirl. The salted caramel was way too sweet for my liking, I assumed the bourbon whiskey would be the prominent flavour but it was totally over-powered by the caramel. The sailor's swirl, however, was amazing!
Sailor Jerry’s spiced rum, Chambord, fruit blend with passionfruit, ginger syrup, lime & soda. Garnished with passionfruit
Although we had a completely different day planned, we still had a lovely afternoon, and thanks to Jon Jones I still got my art fix! Maybe I'll try to visit the Michelangelo exhibit another time, but until then, I highly recommend giving the Peaky Blinders mural a gander!
