I made a map to track my customers, and I found something suprising!

Writer: Zoe RustonZoe Ruston

Hey readers,

A couple weeks ago, I posted some vinyl stickers I had made, on to a Facebook group. They got lots of interest, more than I had expected, and it was so exciting seeing so many people order my vinyls. And while I was writing the addresses on all of the envelopes, I noticed that the postcodes were for all over the UK! How exciting!

I decided I wanted to see where all of my lovely customers were from, so I found a basic UK postcode map on Royal Mail, and got to work personalising it and filling it in. And I was amazed. I've had orders from Cornwall to Scotland and many places in between. There's just something about seing it visually, to give you a little boost.

Starting a business selling something you've made isn't easy, and it can be daunting and disheartening when another week goes by without any orders. It's easier to criticise yourself than to compliment yourself sometimes, so it can feel like you NEVER make ANY sales and to think "what's the point?!", But colouring those little blobs in feels like an accomplishment in itself. I had no idea I had sold to so many parts of the country, and seeing the map fill up got me inspired to update my etsy, make some new cards, draw some new designs and paint some more flowers!

If you want to fill up your own map, I've posted mine to my Etsy and I also made another design so you can choose which ever one you like best. These are just a digital download, so you can print at home, or colour in on your tablet like me.

Have you done this already? Show me yours!

I'm considering doing a world map, as I've even had orders from the USA, but that's alot more drawing than that of our little island. Fingers crossed that I get to cross off some more postcodes this week

Speak soon,
